Abstract
Brown turns in this chapter to consider the situation of liberalism in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. He approaches the issue through the paradigm of Political Obligation, exploring in particular the hesitancy of liberalism to accept greater State intervention through engagement primarily with the thought of Schmitt and Green. As an answer to this problem, Brown ultimately recommends a new ‘hermeneutic’ approach to liberalism.
