Abstract
This chapter provides a critical view of the Trump administration and its populist stance against Latin American immigrants. It also critiques the Indian Hindu nationalist administration of the Modi government for its lack of concern for rural migrant laborers. The populism of the Trump administration and the Modi government demonstrates how xenophobic the former was and how the latter excluded lower socio-economic classes from aid.

Under Biden, children likewise have been detained at the border. Although there has been a task force created to unify detained children with their families. The refugee cap under Biden has also risen compared with the former Trump administration. On the other hand, images of border patrol agents beating Haitian migrants with long horse reins on September 20, 2021 along the border have been disconcerting.
