Delivering Compassionate Care

Abstract

In this chapter, we review key concepts of team functioning and mindful team leadership. Next, we review recent theoretical and empirical mindfulness research as it relates to teams and leadership and discuss the role that mindfulness (both mindfulness of team members and of leaders) may have in improving overall team functioning. We offer two guided mindfulness practices: walking meditation and a seated mindfulness meditation. We end the chapter by offering some practical suggestions and additional resources to motivate your own mindfulness practice.
