Abstract
Before starting a renovation project, a careful analysis of the building's characteristics is necessary. Knowledge of the specific building technologies and their critical details will help to better identify the causes of deterioration and possible remedies. Typically, a renovation project involves major changes to the existing structure, including structural interventions that require careful engineering evaluation. Alignment with current building codes and the need to improve performance are other important aspects to consider in a renovation project.
