Abstract

This chapter focuses on the initiatives of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) as a rising giant in global Interreligious Dialogue (IRD) projects. In the chapter, I argue that KAICIID had made great impact in IRD in a holistic manner; that is, IRD for theological reflection, for Life-encountering, for Action, and for Common Action. The chapter also explores the initiatives that are being undertaken by KAICIID at both international and regional levels. The initiatives of KAICIID in empowering different communities are a fulfillment of Sustainable Development Goal 10 (SDG 10) on the issues of reducing inequalities within and among countries. This aspect has been demonstrated in several ways in this chapter. The chapter illustrates that commitment to such initiatives entails channelling of huge resources. The involvement of the organization in IRD in Africa cannot be underestimated. Ultimately, though their story is largely a success story, it has its own fair share of challenges, especially threats of closure for associating with a government accused of violating human rights.
