Abstract

Thus, instead of seizing the eastern part of the town in accordance with the orders received, the French colonel decided to take up a defensive position to protect 10,000 displaced persons who were between the belligerents. The rebels were surprised and improvised the assault on the position held by the French troops, in the middle of which was the civilian population. This action allowed to achieve the mission that was: Ten thousand lives to be saved.
