Abstract

On 30 July 2014, around 30 civilians are murdered by Seleka rebels in the town of Batangafo. Two soldiers from the Democratic Republic of Congo belonging to the African Union interposition force are also killed by the rebels. French Sangaris Force sends a Battle Group to take over the situation in this town to restore the African Union force to its authority and to rescue the population in danger. This chapter recounts the alerting of the Battle Group and its movement through the jungle to reach the town of Batangafo.
