Abstract
This chapter explains the pre-deployment training of a French Battle Group before its overseas deployment in Africa. It sets out the framework for the intellectual, material, technical and human preparation of a troop whose initial mission changes at the last moment. After having trained for a desert mission in Chad, these soldiers are finally deployed in the Central African Republic in which environment is a jungle. The necessary adaptation to a new situation requires last-minute adjustments.
