Abstract
This chapter begins by reflecting on the recent policy landscape on the prevention of domestic abuse in England and Wales, of which the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme is a growing part, and then reviews the manner in which the UK Parliament has recently considered policy options on ‘Clare’s Law’ in debating the legislation that became the recent Domestic Abuse Act 2021. This chapter then gives a summary of the findings in this book, and a further summary of the regulatory problems contributing to the ‘policy spiral’ of Domestic Abuse Disclosure Schemes. This chapter ends the book with recommendations for re-drafting the (now statutory) guidance on the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme in England and Wales.
