Abstract
In a longitudinal analysis, this chapter presents the statistics compiled for this book using freedom-of-information requests to police forces in England and Wales in 2018, concerning the rate of victimisation of recipients of disclosures under the Scheme in 2014 onwards. This chapter examines the evidence published by regulators as to the operation of the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme, as well as evidence of force-level self-evaluation of the Scheme conducted by forces themselves, gathered through freedom-of-information requests in 2018 and 2021. In this way, this chapter presents a series of case studies on the operation and monitoring of the DVDS by a number of police forces in England and Wales. It also analyses the presentation of the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme in Domestic Homicide Review reports.
