Abstract

This chapter will discuss the basic concepts on how to manage cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED) in the outpatient setting. We will review the indications of device implantation as well as components and function of pacemakers and defibrillators. We will discuss the follow-up clinic evaluation of various device programming parameters and common device malfunction.
