Abstract

This section describes the diagnosis, risk stratification, and current treatment guidelines for venous thromboembolism (VTE) which includes both pulmonary embolism (PE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The chapter focuses on considerations for outpatient treatment of VTE, including extended anticoagulation and evaluation of risk factors for recurrence.
