Abstract
Embedded systems have become one of the main tools used in solving real-life problems. Moreover, recent advances in embedded systems allow forming intelligent systems with user-friendly hardware and software tools. Therefore, it became a necessity to understand and master these topics. This book aims to cover the fundamental concepts in embedded systems via their practical implementation. To do so, we will make a brief introduction in this chapter. Hence, we will start with explaining what an embedded system is. We will cover different embedded system types. Since these have their specific structures, we pick the STM32F429ZIT6 microcontroller based on Arm® Cortex™-M architecture as our embedded system in this book. Finally, we will provide a brief overview of the book including its general layout and chapter-based content. Throughout the chapter, we will try to answer three fundamental questions. What is the aim of this book? Who is it for? What can the reader learn from this book? Hence, the reader can get a feeling about why the concepts in this book are important and why they should be learned. Moreover, the reader can judge what to expect from the book.
