New Proposed Models for Maspero Triangle: Assessment

Abstract

The chapter highlights the most important facts about the development proposals of Maspero’s unplanned informal area. It highlights and showcases the comparison carried out between Maspero Triangle proposals that were submitted by reputed international firms: Sir Norman Foster and Partners, Stefano Boeri, and Dar Al-Handasah. A well-concluded proposal addresses the final master plan for Maspero’s area, based on a sustainable reference planning and COVID-19 measures, in addition to a full discussion on how to apply green economy sectors. These sectors are concerning the arranged land use that satisfies all the needs of the residents, investors, and the government. The chapter also presents the calculations for waste and water management and modification to secure all the residents from any problems in the future, which has been addressed in full detail. Moreover, the chapter addresses the situation of the GIZ project and other local firms towards Maspero’s urban development, including embodied energy and installations of unplanned areas. Furthermore, the chapter depicts a judgmental criticism that has been deduced to maintain successful planning strategies after understating the winning proposal of Sir Norman Foster. Finally, the authors address the upgrading plan that started in 2018 and that is expected to be completed by 2021.
