Abstract
A number of treatment methods and partial perspectives have been successfully proven in psychotherapy, differing in terms of the preferred focus on an access medium, specific methodical approaches through different settings or varying emphases in the understanding of disorders. The partial perspectives complement each other to form a whole once the linguistic definitions can be translated. The variety found in the methods is capable of and required to optimise the relationship between the patient and therapist.
The remaining barriers are not found in facts but in the mind. In this book, being healthy or ill is understood as the interplay of two biologically embedded principles, namely (1) resilience and (2) stress. Resilience is contingent on adequate age-appropriate relationships. We cope with danger using our inherent fight/flight/freeze responses, which can also be reflected in inner, confrontational battles and the lessons learned from these, in addition to on the psychosomatic level.
