Abstract
This chapter outlines analogies for many of the presentations that occur in gastroenterology, particularly for gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic pathologies. Most analogies are based on tracts and flowing phenomena, whether that be from a sauce bottle, traffic, or the road itself. Unfortunately, patients and doctors alike can have difficulty visualising the problem, let alone diagnosing it. For this reason, it is likely that a list of competing differentials is given to a patient, which may confuse them. To mitigate this, readers should thoroughly understand the analogy for each condition, and be cautious of mixing analogies together for different conditions.
