Abstract
The optimal routing problem is a well-known problem at the intersection of operations research and artificial intelligence. The optimal routing problem has been successfully applied in many real-life situations. In this paper, we re-examine the optimal routing problem from the perspective of mobility impaired individuals. As mobility impaired individuals face a number of additional constraints and transportation challenges in their daily lives, this study attempts to address these challenges by adjusting the classical routing problem to facilitate the needs of mobility impaired individuals. In order to solve the problem, we propose a routing recommendation algorithm, which takes into consideration the level of accessibility of the alternative routes. Numerical experiments are reported to examine the performance of the routing algorithm.
