Abstract

In this chapter, Dr. Andrews discusses the necessity of a mentor during residency to guide you. A mentor is needed to survive the 7 years of a neurosurgery residency. Often, your mentor will present him- or herself to you as you go through residency—just keep your eyes and ears open. Your mentor does not necessarily have to be someone who has similar academic interests to yours.
