Abstract
This chapter describes functional issues related to upper limbs impairment in children with different forms of cerebral palsy (CP): bi/unilateral spastic, dyskinetic, and ataxic. The general guidelines of the rehabilitation project are also described, aimed at improving the functional use of the upper limbs in the different forms of CP. The upper limbs rehabilitation goals will also vary, depending on the child’s impairment levels. In severely impaired children, it will be essential to identify bypass solutions—here described—to provide, in every possible way, opportunities for the child’s real participation in all daily occupation of childhood, as underlined in the International Classification Functioning (ICF). Some play activities, useful for upper limb rehabilitation, are suggested as well.
