Abstract
During the pandemic, the world has witnessed women’s inevitable contributions and social commitment as frontline health workers, teachers and leaders in Covid management. Women’s leadership abilities are highly acknowledged in an unprecedented manner during this global health crisis. This chapter is centred on two arguments: the efficiency with which women-led countries have managed the Covid-19 pandemic; and the need for more women in political leadership to ensure the formulation of gender-sensitive recovery strategies to overcome the gendered impacts of the pandemic. The chapter discusses the lack of adequate women representation in Indian politics and the obstacles in the way of women’s leadership. It concludes with the urgency of having more women in the Indian Parliament to facilitate the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
