Abstract
The vast majority of life forms on Earth need the night. The rotation of the Earth has imposed the day-night rhythm, that is, the regular sequence of light and darkness, on all species that have evolved on our planet. This has led to the development of biological clocks that regulate what is called the circadian rhythm through the production of hormones responsible for the sleep cycle and, in general, for our metabolism.
