There are several concepts for the fixation of the new stem in femoral revision arthroplasty. The fixation can be cemented or cementless. The cemented fixation can be performed with normal stems, with longer revision stems, with cement-in-cement techniques, with impaction grafting, or with megaprostheses. Cementless fixation can be performed proximal or distal in the femur with monoblock or modular stems in straight or curved versions. There are different concepts of distal cementless fixation. The different concepts of fixation in femoral revision arthroplasty will be discussed in the following chapters.
