Technical Implementation of the Stem Implantation of Modular Revision Stems with Distal Fixation

  • 83 Accesses

Abstract

The individual surgical steps regarding implantation of distal fixation modular revision stems are presented in this chapter. In particular, the specifics of different distal fixation principles are discussed, and guidance is given for achieving firm distal fixation of the stem. These are important to avoid three-point fixation of the stem, which can lead to subsidence. In addition, these principles are helpful in minimizing complications such as unintentional fractures.
