Abstract
Comprehending the historical globalization of colorism via color consciousness is enabled by the utilization of the ecological perspective, which makes use of the biopsychosocial as pertains to human behavior. The “bio” aspect takes into consideration the implications of genetic endowment such as skin color for the function or dysfunction of human organisms that determine their well-being. The “psycho” takes into consideration the implications of psychological endowment such as the idealization of light skin in the adaptive strategies extended from environmental demands (Hall, 2005). Finally, the “social” involves an ability to carry out roles such as subjugation acts by and attributed to dark-skinned peoples in relation to light-skinned members of the dominant human group, community, and/or society at large (Hall, 2005).
