Abstract
Part of patient preparation includes answering any questions the patient may have about the procedure and calming any uncertainty, which may be achieved during the consent process. The sedation or anesthesia strategy should be confirmed and the patient appropriately positioned and supported on the table with respect to the procedure being performed, as well as patient comfort and safety. Antibiotics and other medications planned to be given during the procedure should be reviewed with the anesthesiology team at the time of “timeout.” Any procedures requiring contrast should ensure documentation of contrast allergy, as well as appropriate prophylaxis if necessary.
