Abstract

There are twelve primate genera in the subfamily Cercopithecinae. All of this subfamily lives in Asia and Africa. One of the genera Macaca is distributed widely in Asia with only 1 species found outside Asia, the Barbary macaque in Africa. The Barbary macaque is mainly found in the atlas and rift mountain ranges of Morocco and Algeria.
