Abstract
SonoScape is a powerful software devoted to the computation of sonic files by the application of the Acoustic Complexity Indices. The illustration of detailed exercises regards primarily:
-
1.
How to set the Energy filters reducing the discretion in the selection of thresholds, a necessary step to correctly apply the ACI metrics and to obtain the sonic and acoustic signatures.
-
2.
Working with the energy filter in order to exclude every signal that does not belong to environmental sonic sources and that mask biophonic signals.
-
3.
Working with the sonic signature, discovering the use of this semiotic object obtained by using ACItf.
-
4.
Working with near/far sonic field. This exercise introduces to the delimitation of far and near fields, a necessary passage to couple sonic to landscape data.
-
5.
Working with the Sonic signature across landscape.
-
6.
Working with the temporal scale. The aggregation of the ACI metrics at different temporal scales allows to evaluate the effect of temporal aggregation.
-
7.
Working with the fractal dimension of the Ecoacoustic Events at dawn. In this exercise, the fractal dimension of ecoacoustic events has been calculated.
-
8.
Graphing Ecoacoustics Events. Plotting the ecoacoustics event codes, composed of three digits into a ternary plot return a representation of the spatial distribution of the ecoacoustics events. This design is useful to make confrontation between different files/location/time, etc.
