Abstract
Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari’s approach to Freud’s propagation of the ancient myth of Oedipus strikes at its heart, which is, the triangle of daddy-mommy-me, the dogma of the nuclear family, and the intervention and manipulation of the psychoanalytic priest, the psychoanalyst him or herself. Deleuze and Guattari argue that having introduced production into desire, psychiatry “cannot avoid posing in eschatological terms the problem of the ultimate relationship between the analytic machine, the revolutionary machine, and desiring machines.”

My essay, “Is Capitalism Determined? Deleuze and Guattari Between Capitalism and Calculus,” appears in the British Journal of Phenomenology 45, 2 (2014): 91–106. It is an analysis of the determinate conditions under which capitalism developed and organizes desiring-production.
