Abstract

This chapter describes the Baker tube stitchless plication technique used in cases of intestinal obstruction due to extensive adhesions, or when the patient has already undergone numerous similar operations. Plication attempts to prevent multiple recurrent adhesions by holding the bowel in a prearranged orderly fashion during the period of adhesion formation. Indications, preoperative preparation, pitfalls, and complications are discussed. Details of operative strategy and operative technique are included.
