Abstract

Cyclic vomiting syndrome (CVS) is characterized by recurrent vomiting episodes. Mean ages at onset of symptoms and at diagnosis of children with cyclic vomiting pattern were, respectively, 5.7 and 8.0 years. I.e., on average 2.3 years elapsed between onset and diagnosis, reflecting the difficulty of diagnosing CVS. Prevalence of CVS ranges from roughly 0.3% to 2%. Its pathophysiology, prognosis, and natural history remain poorly understood. Various abortive and prophylactic therapies that have been applied in CVS cases are described.
