Abstract

Virtual care has become essential to the infrastructure of cardiovascular care delivery. Although previously used as an occasional adjunct to in-person care, virtual visits are now routinely used for outpatient clinical care and remote in-hospital consultation. The inevitable suspension of all non-urgent, in-person visits during the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in necessary modifications to the treatment and management of cardiac patients (De Simone et al. Am J Cardiovasc Dis. 2020;10(2):34–47). Team-based phone calls, asynchronous symptom checks and at-home vital sign monitoring with medical grade digital and wearable devices now provide efficient, high quality and convenient patient care.
