Design of Reinforced Concrete Sections Under Bending and Axial Forces

Abstract

The diagrams presented herein are useful to verify the serviceability limit states of structural concrete elements, which require the determination of the maximum concrete compressive stresses and the of tensile stresses in the reinforcement steel. These stresses, and the corresponding depth of the neutral axis, are evaluated for cracked cross-sections subjected to bending moment and axial force. Linear elastic behaviour is assumed for steel and for compressed concrete.
