Abstract
As a basic public facility, public seats are the main tool for people to rest outdoors. However, with the development of the times and the continuous growth of people’s needs, public seats are facing new design challenges. This article takes the public seats in the Shanghai Botanical Garden as the main research object. First, it conducts a field investigation of the Shanghai Botanical Garden, and analyzes the defects and shortcomings of the public seats, and introduces the concept of environmental psychology, and puts it into theory. As a research basis, further analysis of the interrelationship among the three factors involved in the people, environment, and public seats, and finally put forward the design principles applicable to the further improvement of public seats in the Shanghai Botanical Garden.
