Abstract

Environmental degradation has been a challenge to everyone globally. Despite the burgeoning concern of the current environmental issues, there has been an increased level of awareness regarding environmental issues based on the worsening situation in developing countries. Therefore, this study investigates the preferences of Malaysians in using green vehicles through choice modelling (CM), using choice experiment of attributes: Level of Emissions, Range of Driving, Source of Energy and Price. In achieving this objective, data was collected from a sample of 427 respondents through survey questionnaires which were personally distributed by the researcher. The questionnaires contain information about green vehicles attributes and the data gathered were analysed using Economic Valuation Method. The result shows that the highest marginal value from range of driving is 20.5%, which suggests that people are concerned about their driving range; which is an indication of their preferences for green vehicles.
