Stereotactic Radiosurgery for the Treatment of Central Nervous System Meningiomas

Abstract

Since the 1990s, the introduction of SRS has radically modified standard medical practice for the treatment of several central nervous system (CNS) and intracranial pathologies, particularly meningiomas (MNs). In the last decade, there have been important changes in the management of MNs due to the publication and diffusion of a large number of guidelines (GLs) for their diagnosis and treatment. In this chapter, the authors summarize the highlights from the main GLs recently published. The aim is to provide the reader with clear and precise recommendation on when and how to perform SRS for CNS MNs.
