Abstract
These are not hospitable times. There is thus good reason for examining the grounds and scope of interreligious encounters. This essay analyzes Raimon Panikkar’s ideal model of interreligious dialogue and points to both its contemporary relevance and its intrinsic desirability. The model also implies a new vision of religion that is less tribal and more universal in nature, and thus provides an added, more hopeful, basis for interreligious hospitality.
