Abstract
Yuliya Stepanova (née Rusanova) is a former international 800 m track runner for Russia, who competed in multiple world-level competitions. During her peak competitive years (2010–2014), she was part of an institutionalized doping programme established by officials for Russian athletes. In this chapter, she shares her insights on the doping programme she was exposed to while competing for Russia. It is a rare testimony providing the unique view of an athlete’s approach to her love for running and her personal performance with the perspective on how this is integrated into a global doping system.
