Abstract
The paper presents the design and implementation of a system for tracking and identifying the packages sent by couriers, using various technologies such as GPS, GSM or RFID. The system structure is composed of a hardware and a software part. The two main objectives of this application are the tracking of the packages sent by courier, along with the generation of cost-efficient routes from the source to the destination. The application server, which handles the provision and management of information, has a layered architecture to increase the scalability of the application. Another feature of the system is the possibility of the customers to choose the most convenient transport variant from those exhibited by the Martins algorithm, based on the information about the storage centers present in the application and the connections between them. This feature makes the services personalized according to the client’s needs, giving them value, which will return back through more orders and thanks.
