Abstract
Technology has altered our perceptions of place, space, and time. We connect in ways previous generations could not imagine, with devices in our pockets that give us instantaneous access to information, experiences, and knowledge. Developments in communication technology are reshaping the ways in which we interact within our communities and the wider world. The impacts of these technological developments are also raising questions about how society is changing, how our perceptions of truth can be altered, and how this changes our relationships with others. This introductory section explores the challenge of technology and prompts readers to think about the different ways in which new technologies are being utilized to impact global society.
