Abstract

This chapter describes the adoption process of the EU Whistleblower Directive, from the stakeholder consultations to the Trilogue negotiation between the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council. It also explores the key aspects of the adopted EU Whistleblower Directive and examines the significance of this new piece of legislation for the future of whistleblower protection in Europe. The last part of the chapter illustrates the opportunities and challenges in the transposition phase and how it will integrate in the EU legal landscape.
