Abstract

The article examines the nature and the possibility of predicting the onset and strength of the El Niño climatic phenomenon. The analysis of the internal structure of the surface temperature of the ocean and air, pressure, amount of precipitation in the region of the tropical Pacific Ocean during the onset and absence of the El Niño (La Niña) phenomenon is carried out, according to the interactive system Giovanni, the spatial and temporal variability of these characteristics is considered. The results obtained do not contradict theoretical hypotheses.
