Abstract
This chapter considers, first, what young white students think about race, as well as their assertions that “white privilege is a myth” and “people are reverse racist against white people.” White students in middle and high school generally share a perception that they are made to feel guilty about being white and that they are losing opportunities for the same reason. The ideas expressed by these students are compared to those of young African American students as they engage in an open and honest conversation about their experiences in a primarily white school district.
