Sustainable Energy-Water-Environment Nexus in Deserts

Abstract

Today, all industries, especially the chemical industry, are faced to find new technologies that help us to reduce the human impact on the environment and promote global sustainable development. These solutions must consider aspects such as economic feasibility, sustainability, and social equitability. As a result of this need, there is a wide innovative technologies portfolio that seeks to become the core technology, one of the most representative being technologies for water treatment and water desalination (WT&WD). In this way, the aim of this contribution is to develop a bibliometric analysis that evaluates the evolution of the intellectual and cognitive structure of WT&WD that supports communities to identify, improve, and reach the research about these technologies. To do that, 737 documents from 1969 to 2019 related to WT&WD (46 open access) were retrieved from Scopus and analyzed using bibliometric techniques and technologies.
