Abstract
This chapter describes in detail the workup of the three most commonly encountered etiologies of hyponatremia in the NeuroICU: volume overload (heart failure or cirrhosis), cerebral salt wasting, and syndrome of inappropriate anti-diuretic hormone. Extensive guidance of the laboratory workup and management strategies are included.
