This chapter addresses the clinical presentation of and risk factors for infectious encephalitis and meningitis. Material covers the workup and treatment of patients with suspected infectious encephalitis and meningitis. This chapter also includes a review of the Biofire Assay and the CSF findings that are classically found in various forms of infectious meningitis. Includes an overview of antibiotics and their penetration through the blood brain barrier.
