Abstract

The idea of personality has been known since antiquity. However, only recently, has personality research—combined with advanced tools in natural language processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence—made a breakthrough in the automatic analysis of personality dimensions and disorders. This chapter introduces the field of computational personality analysis, presents a critical reflection on it, and discusses open challenges and ethical considerations.
