Abstract
We introduce a mixed finite volume - finite element method for the Navier–Stokes system and analyze its convergence using the concept of consistent approximations and generalized solutions. The proposed scheme combines the advantage of finite volume approximation of the convective terms in the continuity and momentum equations, with finite element approximation of the dissipation terms.
