Abstract

This chapter deals with the type of turbulence which is not confined by solid walls. We distinguish three different free turbulent flows: free jets, free wakes and jet boundaries. We flow at zero pressure gradient as well as non-zero lateral pressure gradient. For calculation of these types of turbulent flows, the concept of inductive approach introduced by Prantdl is used. Utilizing non-dimensional parameters are used for near wake and far wake charaterization.
