Abstract
Here we examine the numbers of ixodid ticks found in the Neotropical Region, which comprises both a vast continental area and numerous islands with their own unique faunas. Where relevant, the evolutionary origins of these faunas are discussed, a topic discussed in depth in Chap. 5.
