Reducing Mortality in Critically Ill Patients

Abstract

Mechanical ventilation is required in nearly 40% of critically ill patients admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Although a little of these patients may benefit of non-invasive ventilation (NIV), the vast majority required invasive mechanical ventilation (iMV), which is usually delivered through and endotracheal tube.
